Manta 3in Exhaust - Toyota Fortuner GUN156R N80 2.8L & 2.4L Turbo Diesel D4D DPF 2015-Current
Description
Manta's 3in system replaces the restrictive factory exhaust on the GUN156R Fortuner, and you can take it from the DPF back or all the way from the turbo.
Both engines in the N80 Fortuner - the 2.8L 1GD-FTV and the 2.4L 2GD-FTV - leave the factory with plumbing sized for emissions compliance rather than airflow. Opening it up brings boost on earlier, sharpens throttle response down low and drops exhaust gas temperatures, which is exactly where a loaded family wagon spends its life: towing, sand, and long climbs with the roof rack full.
DPF Back picks up behind the diesel particulate filter, so the factory DPF stays in place and the vehicle stays road compliant. It comes one way only - Quiet, with the full muffler setup, so there is no drone on the highway.
Turbo Back replaces the lot, starting at the dump pipe off the turbo. On the 1GD the factory dump pipe is the single biggest restriction in the system, so this is where the real gain sits. Choose with cats to keep a catalytic converter in the line, or without cats for off-road use only. Either way you pick Quiet, Medium or Loud - Quiet keeps both mufflers, Medium swaps the rear for a hotdog resonator, and Loud runs it straight through.
Every bend is mandrel-formed, so the pipe holds its full 3in diameter through the corners instead of crushing down the way press-bent tube does.
Aluminised steel is the value option and does the job on a vehicle that lives on sealed roads. Go 409 stainless if the Fortuner sees beach sand, water crossings and mud - it is the one that will still be there in ten years.
