PDI Toyota Prado 250 Series Upgraded Front Mounted Intercooler

An upgraded replacement intercooler for the 2.8L 1GD-FTV Prado 250 Series. It fits in the factory location between the radiator and air conditioning condenser, with a much larger core and better flowing end tanks, so intake temperatures stay low and torque holds up under towing and sustained load.

Why upgrade

Tuned 1GD engines can look strong on a single dyno run, but after a few hard runs the factory intercooler heat soaks, intake temperatures climb and torque can drop by up to 30%. Under sustained load the engine can even go into limp mode. Toyota's ECU pulls fuel based on intake air temperature (measured after the intercooler, not in the airbox), so keeping that air cool keeps full power available.

Optional transmission cooling

For automatic vehicles, a high-BTU PDI transmission cooler can be mounted in front of the intercooler on custom brackets. Ask us if you'd like it added.

Recommended add-on: PDI MAP Sensor Filter (opposite side outlets) to replace the crack-prone factory plastic filter.
