I’ve recently had Graeme, Tim & their team fit a Grunter Xtreme ( latest model) turbo and replace my Rapid chip with a Unichip on my 2004 100 series 1HDFTE 5 speed Auto cruiser and am very happy with the result and the professional way the job was carried out. The previous jarring on light load transmission kick-down from 4th to 3rd has now gone completely with the Unichip and the power and torque improvements form the turbo are amazing. Working the dyno’ figures before (Rapid Chip removed, but 3″ Taipan exhaust, de-restricted inlet tract & X-Country Intercooler upgrade retained) & after as follows: 4th gear (TCC locked) @1860RPM 63RWkW to 100RWkW; 402Nm to 652Nm (3178N to 5156N). @ 3300RPM 120RWkW to 149RWkW; 430Nm to 531Nm (3437N to 4281N).
Fuel economy has improved around town & is unchanged at highway speeds. I’ve yet to check out the figures when towing my 2.8T van. EGT’s have dropped and the acceleration at 100kph in 5th is amazing!! I highly recommend Graeme, his knowledge & his team. David Barnard.
